Water Wars Returns!

The first water war of the summer took place after swimming last Saturday morning!

"You can run, but you can't hide!!"

THE DADDY'S REVENGE BUCKET!!  Then I couldn't help but notice Thomas's water gun had a little spurt of water coming out about to hit James. I guess this was his sister protection duty of the day.

I'm sure Round Two will be coming up later in the month!!

Daddy/Daughter Date

Well, summer is here for us and school is out so please standy by while I attempt to start catching up on my posting.  Some will go all the way back to my birthday, maybe even Easter, some softball pics, school pics and many things in between.  I'm hoping I can somehow catch up before I go on vacation but we'll have to see.

These few are pics that James took last Friday night of his daddy/daughter date with Belle. They went to the Astros game!! Shelby was so excited!!

Their view...James was able to get the Papa John's season ticket seats close to home plate. Shelby loved the seats!!!!

The Astros lost 7-6 but it was a good game and they had a blast!!

Chick-fil-A 5K & 1K

Here's the few pics I was able to snag on my cell phone from the races Saturday!! We had a blast and can't wait to do another one.  The official photographer also took a few good ones of our kids while running the race.  We plan to buy about 4 pics so once they are in, I will post them.  For now, these will do. As most of you know, our boy won the 1K kid race.  I don't have my own pic of him crossing the finish line - we were too busy hooting and hollering. 

Shelby came in 5th place for the girls which is super and I was able to snag this shot of her crossing the finish!!

Awards ceremony - Thomas was the first one to be called.  He got a picture with all the cows and the big stuffed cow he's holding was his prize!!  He has slept with this thing every night so far. HA!

We had a super time and felt like we accomplished something.  It was the first official race for all of us and I think it's something we won't soon forget.  Planning to do our next Kids 1K and Family 3K on March 26th in Conroe, TX!!

Monster Truck Rally

On Saturday night, James and Thomas went with friends (another dad and son), to Reliant Stadium for the Monster Truck Show.  Thomas' friend, Jaden, is really into Monster Trucks and so they get season tickets to the shows at Reliant every year. They have 4 tickets to every show.  Thomas was so excited when Jaden invited him and because this would be Thomas' first time to see Monster Trucks in person! Here's a few shots from the night (they were gone from 4:30pm until midnight) that James took with his cell phone camera.  No video is allowed there.

Trucks are all lined up at the left end. James said Vince's seats are great, they were only about the 4th row up and you can tell how packed Reliant is for this.  They tarp the first few rows because of flying debris.

This truck looked like a spotted Dalmation. Thomas said it has a real tongue on the front that moved in and out and he had a dog tail sticking out the back! =)

Saturday Happenings!

Good Morning all...

Sometimes the weeks just seem to become a blur and this has been one of those weeks. Funny thing is, it's been kind of a "slow" week around here. In slow, I don't mean not busy. We've been very busy but the eventful things that I normally blog about are few in number recently which is why I haven't been posting much the last few days. All of that is about to change and I'll be back to almost daily postings for a while. So...get ready!!!

For today though, I wanted to mention at least two things:
First...today marks the 25th year since my Mammaw's untimely death.  I still think about her ALL the time and miss her dearly. She is another that I just can't wait to reunite with one day.  Love you mammaw!!!! Give my Pop a hug for me. =)

Secondly, we are excited about today.  Aside from running lots of family errands, we get to go see this:

Witty Humor by Belle

Every now and then, I post some cute sayings that the kids make.  Today, I'm sharing a few from the Belle...

Story One
The other day we were driving to our small group and Shelby was telling this story about this boy in her class named Stephen.  Now she and Stephen were in the same class last year too and he is a little comedian.  They even had a little crush on each other.  So after she finishes her story, James says to her, "Shelby, you know you aren't allowed to date until your 25?"  Without missing a beat, Shelby says to him, "Ummm, how 'bout 22"?  James immediately says back to her, "Deal!!!"   Shelby then had this look on her face like she was really getting the good end of the deal on that one.  It was so funny.

Story Two
Trinity has a bed in the living room with an old blanket I gave her.  When she's feeling frisky, she will wrestle with it.  A couple of mornings ago, she started doing this except the goofy dog pretty much got tangled up in the blanket.  As if that wasn't humorous enough, Shelby walks by and says, "What is she doing?"  I said, "She's wrestling with her blanket".  Shelby looks back over at Trinity and says, "Hmff...looks like she's losing!"  James was making our coffee at that moment and he just started belting out laughing so hard he had to stop making said coffee for a moment.

Story Three
She told me that some friends at school were telling her that her hair color was "dirty blonde", she thought that was a "bad" thing.  I explained to her that it wasn't a bad thing and that dirty blonde is the name of a real hair color.  She said, "Oh, okay.  Well, that's fine but I just told them that God put some sun rays in my hair and that's why I have light blonde and dark blonde."  It just made me smile.  She always sees God in everything which I LOVE about her!!

Story Four
Yesterday morning getting ready for school...James started doing one of his funny cartoon voices.  Shelby said, "Daddy, that just sounds weird!"  I couldn't resist so I put my two cents in and said, "Shelby, your Daddy IS weird!"  She looked at James laughing and said, "Oooh, you just got SERVED!" Then me and James busted out laughing.  =)

Dunk the Dolphins!

Every Thursday night when we tailgate for the next game, a family volunteers to make up a special little treat for the boys with a special slogan to get them fired up!!! Well, this is my week to do the Spirit Treat.  So, this is what I've been working on today...


Aren't my bags cute?!? I actually found some tiger striped bags. Only problem was they only had 12 and I needed 24.  So my sweet husband ran to the Party City next to his work and bought 12 orange bags.



This coming Saturday we are playing the Dolphins so our slogan this week is "Dunk the Dolphins"!! So, the only things I could find were these two treats that resembled dunking or dipping...oreo stick dunk'ems and fun dips.  I hope they like them!!!

And the finished product...James made up some special and very cute labels for me to stick on the bags and I sealed the bags with these cute black paw prints.  I think they came out pretty sweet!!!

Tonight, the boys will be spoiled.  Not only will they get these and some delicious grilled hot dogs, but they are also getting some cupcakes from another family for beating the Rams last Saturday!! How sweet it is!!!  GO BENGALS!!!!!

Space Center Houston!

Last Saturday, we went down to Clear Lake to the Johnson Space Center NASA and spent the day at Space Center Houston. It was Day 2 of celebrating James' birthday. It was also the last weekend that they just happened to have the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Exhibit!!

This is what we saw as soon as we walked in...

Daddy and Shelby goofing off under General Grievous while T.J. stands down a ways on his own with his hands in his pocket acting like he doesn't know the other two people. So funny!!

This was another Clone Wars Exhibit where James and the kids had to get suited up with belts and ropes.

It was an obstacle type course located up in the air...literally. They got to climb ropes...

go across narrow bridges and boards...

they had a blast doing this. All four of us did another exhibit where we got to use blaster guns and shoot all kinds of bad clone troopers and bad guys. Didn't get any pics of that though...

One of the kids favorites was this huge rock wall...the rocks would light up and the kids had to climb fast enough to that rock and hit it before the light went out...

Ironically enough they both did well and both score the exact same number of points...12!! Isn't that amazing. God knows my children very well. HA!!

This was another game where Daddy could join them...there are ten levels to this game where they all work together. Before it was their turn other families made it to level 5. My crew made it to Level 7!!! Woo Hoo!!

I love this picture. I took it in the Starship Gallery which is where they have all of the space artifacts, pictures, and moon rocks. This is a small scale replica of the shuttle.

Look! Shelby is now an astronaut and is currently on Mars!!

A nice girl that works there took this lovely picture of the 4 of us...I just had no idea she was not zoomed in on us. Oh well...still a good pic! Notice we all have on different Star Wars shirts?!? We received several comments throughout the day about that. Yes, we are nerds! =)

We had a ton of fun last Saturday!! Space Center Houston is always enjoyable and has the neatest exhibits.

The Circus - Last Post - The Tigers

Finally, my last circus post! The tigers were awesome and were one of Thomas' favorites at the circus this year.
