5th Grade Graduation!!

Last Wednesday on June 2, 2011, our baby girl, graduated from the 5th grade and completed her last year of Elementary school.  Here's some of my best pics from our special day:

Wednesday morning before we went to school, James took a few pics of her!!

Such a beauty.  Her nickname "Belle" is very appropriate since Belle means beauty. =)  She was so excited last Wednesday and a tad nervous.  Here at our school, the kids get very dressed up for 5th grade party and the ceremony.  It is a major deal around here.

Daddy and Belle!! Being on PTO has it's perks because I have access to everything which allows me to take lots of pictures at school that other parents don't get a chance to.  James didn't even see the party portion.  He was able to come at 1:30pm and see the Graduation though. =)

Our other photo booth was a Love Bug.  Our theme this year was Give Peace a Chance!  It all turned out very pretty and the kids loved it.  In the picture L to R...Gabby, Melissa, Shelby, and Alexa!

Here's a shot of Shelby's major awards this year...Promotion to 6th grade, Art Award, Honor Roll - Shelby did not have a single B on her report card all year!, Safety Patrol and Flags, and Citzenship Award!!  Woo Hoo!!!!  We are so very proud.  She couldn't have dreamed of ending her 5th grade year on a better note!! Way to go BELLE!!! We love you!!! 6th grade is going to be a BIG but hopefully exciting change for all of us - please keep it in prayer.

And I couldn't leave the T-man out...he had a super AWESOME 4th grade year as well.  These are his major awards...Perfect Attendance for last 9 weeks, All E's in Conduct, Honor Roll - he only made 3 B's the whole year but his Final Averages for the year were Straight A's, he won the PASS portion of the Punt, Pass and Kick contest in P.E. by throwing the ball 47' 7", he also made it on the record board of the top 10 fastest boys for the 2nd year in a row.  Thomas is listed as #8 on the sheet but he's actually tied for 7th place, and then the blue certificate at the top left is his S.T.A.R. Award for the 2nd year in a row. This Award is for the Physical Education Student of the Year Award.

We are so very proud of Thomas too and next year, he will be the Top Dog at school - a big 5th grader!!! Way to go T.J.!!! We love you and know you'll do great in 5th grade! =)

Science Fair Results

"Choose a Chew" won 3rd place in the Science Fair!!

We are so proud of T.J. - he worked hard and from what we've been told he did a great job on his interview and presentation before the judges. Woo Hoo!!!

And kudos to Belle for a great job on her project.  She was a Top 10 Finalist in 5th grade!!

Science Projects 2011

Well, here's a peek at the finished Science Projects this year!  They were turned in on Friday.
Belle did hers on toothpaste.  It was about using 6 top whitening toothpastes on eggs soaked in grape juice, tea and coffee, then each set of eggs were brushed for one minute with the toothpastes to see which toothpaste whitened the best!!  

She did a great job, as usual.

He designed his board all on his own...Choose a Chew!

T's projects involved getting 8 packs of leading brands of gum, different flavors and prices.  We all had to chew each gum and our objective was to figure out which one had the longest lasting flavor.

This was Thomas' first year to do a solo project and he also did a super job!!

He thought chewing lots of gum was a fun project. =)

Judging on the projects takes place Monday.  Stay tuned for the impending results (Belle is going to be really mad if she doesn't win!!) =)

Having a popcicle treat...the weather was gorgeous Friday.  It's kind of sad that this was Belle's last Field Day ever!!  :(

I didn't get hardly any of T-man because I was all over the place doing my PTO duties but I was able to snag this one of him running in an obstacle course.  Kind of weird - they don't give out 1st-3rd place ribbons anymore like when I was growing up.  They give each kid one ribbon for participating and that's it. 

The kids had a blast though and that's all that matters!!

Just 7 weeks left of school...

Flag Duty & Fun Run!!

In mid-January, after Belle completed her Safety Patrol duty around school, her teacher then chose her to be part of the 5th grade flag duty squad.  So every morning and afternoon the crew gets to put the flags up and take the flags down, weather permitting.  She loves doing this!!  I happened to be at school this past Friday morning and was able to snag a few shots.

Friday also happened to be our Spring Fundraiser, a Fun Run!!  I currently don't have a pic of T-man running since it's on the PTO camera but I snagged these of Belle on my camera.

Running hard with her friend Melissa.  Shelby did 18 laps and has raised $50.  Thomas did 19 laps and also raised $50!

Report Card Day!

Today was report card day which ended the 2nd nine weeks and first semester!!

Well, our two have done it again...both made Straight A's AGAIN and also received all E's!!!

Now that's what I'm talking about!!! Not too shabby for two little kids that have had to attend three different elementary schools over the last 5 years and are both two of the youngest in their classes (especially Thomas!).

We are bursting with pride!!!

Great job Shelby and Thomas - keep up the great work!!

Hildebrandt Field Trip

Shelby is excited to have a horse mascot next year when she goes to 6th grade!! How is it possible that my baby girl is going to be a 6th grader? How did this happen??  She will be a Hildebrandt Mustang!!

On Friday, Shelby went with her teacher, the principal and other kids going to Hildebrandt, and got to visit the school campus for the first time! Shelby will be enrolled in all AP (Advanced) courses next year and gets to pick one elective. Her first choice will be Art. Her second is Choir. James and I are attending the Parent meeting at Hildebrandt next Wednesday night so I will have more to report on it after that.

Things are really going to be different for us next year because for the first time, our kiddos will be at different schools. Kind of sad but also exciting at the same time!!

5th Grade Christmas Musical

Last night we were treated to watching Shelby and the rest of the 5th graders put on a Christmas Musical called "December Round the World".

Shelby did awesome, as usual!!

They sang about 6 songs, along with some speaking parts and during the Chinese song, Belle was part of a dragon that walked around the audience.

They all looked so cute in Santa hats!!

Today, is the last day of school until 2011!! We have all the class Christmas parties today, then softball practice for Belle, and then tonight we are heading out to look at Christmas lights. Fun times!!
