Team Heat!

Team Heat on the day of their last games, which was a double header!! The girls, along with their brothers, thought it would be fun to wear fake moustaches and beards during the last game. It was so funny.  Shelby did not like having that itchy thing on her face!!

Yes...he thought he was a stud muffin...HA!!  I told him later that he really didn't want one of those moostaches unless he wore it like his daddy's!!

Then we had our end of season party last weekend at Spring Creek BBQ.

Shelby might be playing Fall ball if Julie can't get it all ironed out.  If that happens we will be juggling two sports at the same time.  Oh boy!!  If that doesn't happen then Shelby will definitely play Spring ball again.

We lost to Crush 8-10 but it was still a fun game to watch!! It was a close one.

The season is winding down already.  We play a Double Header this Saturday and then at least one more game on May 7th. Our plan after the season is over is to put Belle in pitching lessons so she'll be much improved by next season! Coach Julie says her mechanics are awesome, it's her timing release of the ball that needs more work.  Once she gets that down, look out!! Way to go Belle! We love you!

Shelby ROCKED defensively and offensively today.  Coach Julie was so proud of the way she played third when she normally plays 1st base.  She also got a stand up double, a single, scored twice, got some RBI's and was a key to putting the Wildcats down in the last inning.  For these reasons, Shelby was awarded the Game Ball today...

It's about time!!

First of all, Happy First day of April!!

After waiting since November...we FINALLY got Shelby's softball yard sign in on Wednesday!!

Yipee!!! It looks great!!  Now both kiddos have yard signs!!

Shelby was so surprised - when we came home from practice Wed. night, her daddy had beat us home and already had it up in the flower bed.

I think she likes it!!!

We also got her car decal which is proudly displayed on my truck now along with Thomas's!!

First Games of the Season

On Saturday, Shelby had her first softball games of the season!  Yes, a double-header!!
It was so much fun watching her, the team and cheering our girls on!!

The first game was a close one...it went back and forth but our HEAT came back and won 7-6! Shelby got a double and a triple in this game!  She scored and knocked in a couple of RBI's. She also fielded very well, getting several girls out at 1st base.

At bat again...our 2nd game was a blow out. We beat the Cheetahs 10-0!! Go HEAT!!!

This is Shelby's first hit, a solid single that ended up taking her all the way to 3rd base due to errors. She was so excited!!

This was Shelby's best hit of both games...this was a stand up double.  She hit it into the outfield over 3rd base!!!  I just kept the camera on her. =)

Our season is off to a great start at 2-0!!!

Next Saturday we play Game 3 at 1:30pm.

Our first scheduled double header last weekend was rained out!  Now due to Spring Break, we do not have more games scheduled until March 26th! More pics of games, practices and scores will be coming.

Our Softballer...

Yesterday at 4:30pm, Shelby resumed softball pitching practice with 7 of her teammates. This was their first time back since about the middle of December. Coach Julie gave the team the option of even having practice due to the bone chilling cold weather.  These were the girls that still wanted to do it and brave the cold temps and north wind.

Warm-up for throwing.  About to catch one...Yesterday, Shelby only missed catching a couple of balls.  I can already tell she's so much better than she was last year.

Throwing...just like me, Shelby is a lefty but she throws balls with her right hand.  I can't explain it. Thomas is the opposite of us...he does everything with his left hand except write. HA!

I layered her up for practice.  She had on her brother's long sleeve under armour shirt, a softball shirt and a thick black sweatshirt/hoodie. On the bottom she had her leggings on and then had Thomas' insulated long athletic pants on. Yes, they currently wear the same size clothes so it worked.  And she said she was very warm except for her hands, but they can't wear hand gloves with softball gloves.

She is a chip off the ole block but she's also doing something I never did...learning to fast pitch!!

Despite the cold weather, the girls did awesome and had a great practice until almost 6pm. Our next practice may be as early as this Saturday. Julie really wants to get the pitchers ready before the whole team starts practicing together towards the end of February. So...we have about a 5 or 6 more weeks. Then the season starts in mid-March. Can't wait!!!
